Timing: 25 minute presentation with 15 mins for questions
The Plastic Packaging Tax 2022
A new Plastic Packaging Tax will take effect from 1 April 2022 and will encourage the use of recycled rather than new plastic within plastic packaging.
If you are a business that manufactures or imports plastic packaging, including if you import packaging that already contains goods, there are things you should do now to prepare for the tax.
Plastic packaging tax is chargeable on plastic packaging components imported into and manufactured in the UK. If your plastic packaging component contains more plastic than any other material by weight, check if it is in scope of Plastic Packaging Tax.
HMRC also considers certain single-use products to be packaging, and therefore liable. Your products could be liable if they contain, protect, handle, deliver or present goods at any stage in the supply chain from the packaging manufacturer, to the user or consumer.
Webinar content
This webinar will introduce BHETA members the legislation and help you understand the steps you will have to take to comply:
- Which packaging is liable to the tax?
- Which products are liable to the tax? (Giving examples from across the Home Enhancement sector)
- If you are liable what you need to do to prepare
- When and how you need to inform HMRC
Following the 25 minute presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to pose questions directly to Paul and Alyce.
