As part of its ongoing drive to support home and garden suppliers with export, BHETA held a networking webinar with leading US buying group, Hardlines Distributors Alliance (HDA). The HDA represents around sixty independent distributors across the United States with annual purchasing strength of over $7 billion, operating in hardware, housewares, garden, building products, pet care, automotive, tools, electrical, plumbing, and agricultural supplies.
The introductory webinar delivered by included an overview of how the process works, how the HDA can connect UK suppliers with the right distributors according to product and region, help negotiate terms and payment, coordinate marketing across their network, and provide guidance to maximise success and how suppliers can present their brands during the regular HDA conferences. BHETA and HDA will be arranging virtual Meet the Buyer opportunities for UK suppliers.
Commenting on the webinar, BHETA’s DIY & Gardening sector manager, Steve Edwards said, “The HDA webinar is part of BHETA’s programme of support for companies looking to boost export and proved a valuable introduction to a potentially powerful route into the US market. We’re looking forward to organising the Meet The Buyer follow up as this is clearly an export opportunity of considerable interest to members”.
