In 2001, Paul moved into the supply side of retail (Business Development & Sales) where he was the driving force in building a business from zero to £25m over a 6-year period, involving a series of adventures within international trade which involved buying, selling and EU and international compliance. In 2015, Paul returned to Retail QA and compliance in a TV shopping business. In 2019, he joined Toolstation, a Travis Perkins Group business unit, where, working with other business units, Paul heads up compliance, responsible sourcing, sustainability (& decarbonisation).Outside of work, Paul has been a football referee for over 30 years and is Chairman of the Refereeing Association (RA). During his time as Chair, the RA supported the football authorities to help improve the match day experience, including banning homophobic remarks, and leading a team to change the legal guidance of the Public Order Act which has increased sentencing for anyone who abuses match officials.About Extended Packaging Regulations (EPR)are a total overhaul of the PRN system and will involve the most significant change to Packaging Regulations for a generation, and will have a huge impact on BHETA members (manufacturers, importers and distributors) known as “brands”.
