BHETA DIY Committee Focuses On Retail Opportunities, regulation and AI

The changing retail landscape, regulatory pressures and the growing role of artificial intelligence were among the key topics discussed at the latest meeting of BHETA's DIY Committee.

Bringing together senior representatives from across the DIY, home improvement and garden sectors, the committee explored the challenges facing suppliers and how BHETA can help members respond to emerging opportunities and industry developments.

‍

Three key areas dominated the discussion:

Retail media and marketplaces: As more retailers develop their own retail media networks and online marketplaces, suppliers face new opportunities but also greater complexity. The committee discussed how BHETA can provide practical guidance, education and insights to help members navigate this changing landscape.

Legislation and regulation: Keeping pace with regulatory developments remains a significant challenge for suppliers. Members reviewed BHETA's draft Legislation and Regulation Report, providing valuable feedback to help shape a practical resource that keeps businesses informed of relevant changes and their implications.

Artificial intelligence: With businesses at different stages of AI adoption, the committee explored how BHETA can support members in understanding its potential, sharing experiences and learning from one another.

The meeting also welcomed Colin Stephens, Managing Director – UK & Ireland at Evergreen Garden Care, attending his first BHETA DIY Committee session.

Paul Boyce, CEO of QEP UK, commented: "It was a highly productive meeting, with open discussion, constructive debate and a genuine willingness to work together on issues that matter to us all. That's exactly what this committee should deliver for the wider BHETA membership."

BHETA's specialist sector committees play an important role in ensuring that the association's activities reflect the needs of its members. By bringing together industry leaders, they help identify shared challenges, shape BHETA's priorities and develop initiatives that support members' commercial success.
