BHETA is bringing together leading marketplace operators, export specialists and industry experts for its EU Marketplaces Day, offering suppliers a unique opportunity to explore new routes to international growth through online marketplaces. The event will take place on Thursday, 10 September 2026, at the Crowne Plaza, National Exhibition Centre, located on Pendigo Way, Marston Green, Birmingham B40 1PS.
Traditionally, suppliers have relied on distributors, agents, retailers, wholesalers and trade shows to access overseas markets. While these routes remain important, the growth of international online marketplaces has created new opportunities for brands to reach consumers directly in markets around the world.
Designed for suppliers operating in the DIY, garden, housewares and small electrical sectors, the forum will be particularly valuable for businesses already exporting as well as those exploring international growth for the first time.
Attendees will gain expert insight into export opportunities and challenges across Europe, including developments in online marketplaces, regulatory changes, logistics, compliance requirements and practical strategies for achieving sustainable growth.
Key feature of the event
We will have a dedicated Meet the Buyer sessions with major marketplace platforms, including bol, Castorama, Joybuy and TikTok Shop. Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear from export support specialists, including the Department for Business and Trade, Dachser and BHETA Business Support Providers.
Commenting on the opportunities presented by online marketplaces, BHETA’s Sector Manager for DIY and Garden, Steve Edwards, said:
“International marketplaces can give suppliers access to new audiences, often with lower upfront risk than traditional market entry. They can also provide valuable insight into which products, price points and messages resonate in different territories.”
Please note that Meet the Buyer appointments are subject to availability and suitability. Marketplace representatives will review appointment requests and may accept or decline requests at their discretion. BHETA cannot guarantee that any attendee will secure a Meet the Buyer appointment. Your appointment(s) will be confirmed by the BHETA team during August. Appointment times may not be confirmed until early September.
