Wickes Reports Strong H1 2025 Growth as Retail Sales Surge 6.8%

Home improvement retailer Wickes has reported robust volume-led growth in the first half of 2025, with total group revenue rising 5.6% year-on-year to £847.9 million.

In the six months ending 28 June, the company’s retail division performed strongly, delivering a 6.8% increase in revenue to £634.4 million. Like-for-like retail sales were up 6.4%, driven by solid customer demand and higher volumes, while prices remained broadly stable.

Key product categories contributing to this growth included timber, garden maintenance, and decorating supplies. Wickes credited these strong performances with helping it achieve record market share levels during the period.

Design & installation (D&I) also saw modest gains, with revenue up 2.1% to £213.4 million. The segment returned to like-for-like growth in the second quarter, reflecting improving consumer sentiment in larger home improvement projects.

Wickes’ TradePro scheme, which targets trade professionals, continued its upward trajectory with a 10% increase in sales compared to the same period last year.

Looking ahead, the company is pursuing expansion, planning to open between five and seven new stores during 2025. Four of these are set to occupy former Homebase locations. Wickes currently operates 229 stores across the UK.

The company’s solid first-half performance signals resilience in the home improvement market, with a focus on volume growth and strategic expansion underpinning its positive outlook for the remainder of the year.
