The Travis Perkins Group has announced the appointment of Lakhvir Sanghera as the new managing director of Toolstation, succeeding Angela Rushforth, who will retire after a decade with the company. Sanghera will officially take on the role in September.
Sanghera brings nearly 14 years of experience within the Travis Perkins Group, most recently serving as finance, property and distribution director at Toolstation. Her tenure has also included more than six years at Wickes, where she held the position of category director for specialist and multichannel operations. Earlier in her career, she worked with Barclays Bank, Centrica, and Barclaycard.
A committed advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion, Sanghera has been instrumental in shaping the group’s family-friendly policies.
Geoff Drabble, chair of Travis Perkins plc, praised the appointment, saying: “Lakhvir has developed a great track record with the group and is well placed to oversee the continued expansion of Toolstation and to build on the current momentum we have in this business.
“I would like to congratulate her on her appointment, and thank the outgoing managing director, Angela Rushforth, for her contribution to the business and wish her an enjoyable retirement.”
Reflecting on her new role, Sanghera said: “I’m delighted to be taking on this new role at this pivotal time in Toolstation’s journey.
“Having gained experience across a wide range of functions, and been part of the journey to set the strategic direction of the business for the past three years, I am really excited to take Toolstation forward in the next phase of growth.”
Rushforth leaves after a decade of leadership, with her tenure marked by expansion and operational development at Toolstation. Sanghera will now be tasked with steering the company through its next chapter of growth.
