Mad March Million Ends on a High, Leaving a Lasting Legacy for Wellbeing Across the Sector

This year's inaugural Mad March Million campaign organised by the Rainy Day Trust’s has exceeded all expectations, with the home improvement sector collectively achieving over 2 million steps throughout March… more than doubling its original target.

Designed around a simple commitment, just 10 minutes of movement a day, the campaign brought together organisations, teams, and individuals from across the sector in a shared focus on wellbeing. What emerged went far beyond physical activity.

Participants reported improved mental wellbeing, stronger team connections, and a renewed focus on balance in the working day. From walking meetings and lunchtime breaks outdoors to family activities and small daily habits, the campaign demonstrated how accessible wellbeing can be when prioritised collectively.

Anna Skeats, CEO of the Rainy Day Trust, said:
"Mad March Million has been about much more than steps. It has been about creating space for people to pause, to reconnect, and to prioritise their own wellbeing. The response from across the sector has been extraordinary."

She added:
"We are particularly grateful to BHETA for their leadership and support throughout this campaign. When organisations like BHETA get behind campaigns like this, it sends a powerful message across the industry, that wellbeing matters."

Whilst the campaign has been energising and unifying, its purpose remains strongly rooted in the Rainy Day Trust’s mission, supporting people in the home improvement industry through times of personal and financial hardship.

Funds raised throughout the campaign will directly enable the charity to continue providing vital support to individuals and families when they need it most.

As the campaign concluded a month ago, its legacy is clear: a sector that has not only moved more but has come together in a meaningful and lasting way.
