Container rates from China to Europe rise again

The price of importing containers from Asia to Europe is on the rise again due to attacks on shipping in the Red Sea area. Data from Flexport Inc. suggests around 300 vessels with combined capacity of around four million containers (just under a fifth of global capacity) are diverting to longer routes.Data from the Xeneta Shipping Index by Compass (XSI-C) shows 40 foot container rates hit a low of $960 on 31st October. Since then rates have risen by 80% to $1,713 by 27th December.
