BHETA is thrilled to announce we will be hosting a “Meet the Buyer” event with Lakeland on Thursday 27th April 2023 at the Best Western Plus Manor Hotel, 127 Main Road, Meriden, Solihull, CV7 7NH.

Lakeland overview

Lakeland is a multi channel retailer with circa 60 stores across the UK, 8 in the Middle East, a website, and catalogue or media based shopping channel and call centre.

Lakeland focuses on quality of their products and ensures performance is beyond customer expectations, as well as keeping the overall product selection separate from what is available elsewhere. This tied in with exceptional customer service, is the overall foundation on which they build all of their plans.

The MyLakeland Club now has over 2 million members who are increasingly loyal and enjoy a regular offering of vouchers, recipes, content and offers from their partners.

Who should attend?

Lakeland are keen to engage with suppliers who can supply the following products:

  • Baking – cake decorations, eco and/or premium ranges in cake presentation, biscuit making, Christmas baking, kids baking, bakeware, baking ingredients, bread making.
  • Laundry – solutions for drying inside and outside.
  • Cleaning – specialist cleaning; equipment or chemicals for carpet or floor.
  • Cookware – microwave cooking, kitchen SDA, knives including sharpeners and boards, kitchen tools and gadgets, food prep, food storage, drinks and hydration, food on the go, seasoning, books and preserving.
  • Seasonal – barware, ice including ice lolly moulds, outdoor entertaining including outdoor serve ware and innovative outdoor cooking equipment, including BBQs and pizza ovens, Christmas entertaining including family games.
  • Home – clever function storage solving problems in the home.

Who will attend from Lakeland?

Buyers representing the product categories listed above will be in attendance.

What should I bring and how long do I have?

Each supplier can bring two people and will be allocated a 20-minute appointment with their relevant buyer. Suppliers are able to book additional appointments if they have products relevant for other categories.

Lakeland will give preference to suppliers who come prepared with a range of products rather than just single items.

What should I focus on?

Lakeland seek new suppliers that will enhance their diverse categories and provide innovations that align with their vision.

Current HOT categories are:

  • Air frying
  • Slow cooking
  • Multi cooking
  • Pressure cooking
  • Microwaving
  • Kitchen tools and gadgets are also a category synonymous with Lakeland and are always looking for the next hidden gem or the next spiralizer.
  • Baking is a turning point of Lakeland to grow in less specific, professional use product into a wider appealing, intermediate baker level range.
  • Other interest is in energy efficient baking options i.e. air frying, microwave to match our hot products.
  • Fun Cooking with innovative SDA and baking ingredients to sit alongside, helping create the Lakeland dessert shop.
  • Drop ship opportunities can be considered on innovative outdoor cooking product (large items).
  • Products linked to these categories are of interest but not a must.

Any food products should be NAFNAC, free from GM ingredients and hydrogenated fat and ideally manufactured in a SALSA or BRC accredited site.

All submitted products will need to be a curated range of items that fit the bill.

  • An understanding of what is already sold would be an advantage, so you interest can be identified.
  • Please take the time to see what they already have in their ranges to avoid lots of cross quotes on current lines, unless it is presented with added value or features that are truly worthwhile and not gimmicks.

Lakeland are looking for something new and different, whether it be product design, material or a production process.

  • Any product shown should have been internally tested to show functions well and it’s fit for use.
  • Across all categories, Lakeland are not looking to add any products in wide distribution with supermarkets, discounters and garden centre groups.
  • If producing own brand, Lakeland are looking for excellent quality with reasonable prices and low MOQ’s.
  • Sourcing within the U.K. and Europe is also seen as a benefit.
  • All products must comply with all the necessary UK legislation, compliance and testing
  • High Product quality is important to Lakeland customers and brand.
