Christmas Appeal message from the Rainy Day Trust"Each year the Rainy Day Trust, our industry charity, provides Christmas Hampers for the most vulnerable of those that we help."For quite a lot of these vulnerable people, the RDT provide the only Christmas card that they will receive and the hampers make the difference for them, giving them a few little special items of food and the like in the house."Following what has been a difficult year for so many, just keeping the heating on is going to be a challenge. Food price inflation is well ahead of the CPIX and RPI as well, adding yet more pressure onto family budgets. It is not an exaggeration to say that without our help and support an awful lot of people will go cold and hungry this year."We are asking you and your businesses to support our Christmas Appeal, helping us to help others. There are a number of ways that you can do this:
- Christmas Jumper Day - Join us and run your own Christmas Jumper Day - everyone at work wears a festive jumper on the day and donates £1 for the privilege. If you can organise one at work that would be great - usually the first Fri in December but you can pick a day that works for you.
- Sponsor hampers - Support the Christmas Appeal directly, sponsoring one or more hampers. Each one costs us £50. You can follow the link to our Just Giving page or make a donation by BACS straight to our bank account - Rainy Day Trust 40-52-40, acct no 00030409.
- Reverse Advent Calendar - How about a Reverse Advent Calendar? Donate an item of stock to us for each of the 24 days of an advent calendar. We'll sell the stock on to raise the money that we need.
- Christmas card donation - As a business or individual, don't send Christmas cards this year and send us a donation instead. Better for the environment too with no waste.
- Christmas Cookie Bake Off - How about a Christmas Cookie Bake Off - encourage staff to bake Christmas cookies, and then sell them to family and friends.
- Order unique Christmas Cards - Order some of our hand-painted Christmas cards to send out - £2.50 each, all unique.
