eBay UK has revealed the biggest trends of lockdown in this month’s eBay Edit, including an insightful look-in to their home and garden category data.Garden especially has been one of best performing categories since the lockdown as buyers have looked to make the most of their time at home and also the good weather by giving their outdoor space a refresh.Over the lockdown period, with no holidays abroad in sight, eBay have seen huge success in Swimming Pools, up 1448% YOY over the last four weeks, and in Hot Tub sales, up 280%. It also looks like people have also been trying to create their own green spaces at home, with 37 units of artificial grass being purchased every hour (up 277% YOY) and plant sales increased by 232% YOY! An upsurge of home baking has increased sales of baking tins by 286% YOY and increased home DIY saw paint sales rise by 231% YOYThese spikes in sales come alongside eBay’s offer for new business sellers to register and start selling on the site for free, aiming to offer small businesses with brick and mortar stores a cash flow lifeline during the pandemic.Find out more here
