Preventing Workplace Harassment: One year on and what’s to come

EVENT OVERVIEW

Almost a year has passed since new legislation placed a proactive duty on employers to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace. Since then, organisations across sectors have faced a rise in enquiries – from compliance queries to complex cases involving third-party harassment and employee complaints.

Now, with the government’s Employment Rights Bill on the horizon, employers may soon be required to take “all reasonable steps” to prevent harassment and once again assume liability for third-party incidents. For industries like retail and hospitality, the stakes are particularly high.

In this timely webinar, WorkNest’s Employment Law and HR experts, Lorna Gemmell (HR Training Manager) and Sonia Tse (Senior Employment Law Adviser), will share practical guidance, real-life examples, and forward-looking insights to help organisations stay compliant and create safer, more respectful workplaces.

Agenda highlights:

  • The sexual harassment duty – one year on: Key trends and lessons from the past 12 months.
  • Compliance in practice: How employers are meeting obligations in both simple and complex scenarios.
  • Third-party harassment: Strategies for managing risks with clients, customers, contractors, and more.
  • Risk assessments: Identifying and mitigating potential harassment risks.
  • Handling complaints: Best practices for responding to reports or suspicions of harassment.
  • Looking ahead: What the Employment Rights Bill means for your organisation and how to prepare.
