EVENT OVERVIEW
This is a must attend event that will introduce important developments for suppliers and highlight a new sector-wide approach to emission reduction, data-sharing and a new ambition to drive low-carbon and circular materials.
Scope 3 decarbonisation relies upon close collaboration between retailers and suppliers and the Make It Zero team are hosting a summit to introduce Make It Zero and to share some of the exciting developments and practical support on offer to help suppliers.
During the event, the Make it Zero team will officially launch two major initiatives co developed with our members to support supplier engagement and accelerate climate action across the sector:
These frameworks are designed to help retailers set clear, consistent expectations for suppliers and to provide them with practical guidance on how to advance their own low carbon and circular strategies.
The summit will provide a clear statement to suppliers that the sector is aligned behind a consistent approach to supplier engagement providing clarity as to what suppliers can expect going forward and a strong signal that there needs to be a step-change in the sectors decarbonisation actions.
The Net Zero team will also provide an update on our data strategy, including the innovative work underway on product data and the development of a consistent, sector wide approach to product carbon footprints in collaboration with the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). Sharing this directly with suppliers will help streamline future data requests and create a stronger, more aligned approach across the value chain.
What to expect from Supplier Summit
Supplier Engagement Standard
During the event, we will unveil our Supplier Engagement Standard a unified framework to bring consistency, efficiency, and measurable impact to supplier decarbonisation efforts across the DIY sector. This standard sets out how organisations can collaborate more effectively to reduce emissions. A key part of the Standard is the establishment of a consistent approach to product data sharing and we will provide an update on the significant progress made to date.
Plastics Decarbonisation Strategy
We will also introduce the Plastics Decarbonisation Strategy, presenting a collaborative roadmap to reduce emissions from key materials and drive circularity across the value chain.
Interactive sessions will offer the opportunity to explore how the Make it Zero resources can be embedded into your organisation’s own sustainability journey. Your participation and insights will help shape the next phase of our collective action.
