BHETA has a separate membership group for “BHETA Electrical” suppliers which focuses on everything to do with the complex technical and logistical issues around the supply and marketing of plugged electrical products e.g. small electrical appliances (kettles, toasters etc) through to power drills and battery powered products.
One key benefit is access to BHETA’s Environmental, Operations and Safety Committee (EOSC). This group of technical managers discuss and agree a common industry understanding regarding product returns via WEEE, service matters, the impact of proposed legislation and other issues that affect the design, quality and safety of products.
Technical and product managers from all “BHETA electrical” members can sit on this committee, including members who supply plugged items such as small electrical appliances, power drills and battery powered products.

EOSC Member quote
“I have worked in small domestic electrical appliances for nearly 30 years and first became a regular member of the EOSC team in the late 1980s. The strength of the EOSC lies in our shared ambition to offer safe and dependable products to our customers. It’s a great confidential forum to discuss updates to legislation and standards at a product level, and the mutual support offered by the group has been vital to some significant hard-won amendments.
“In my early EOSC years, we worked closely with retailers to encourage a ‘repair over replace’ philosophy. In the current climate, I expect this will again be an important area where EOSC members can work collaboratively to deliver efficient and effective solutions.
“I represent the EOSC on the BSI committees for ‘Motorised Appliances’ and ‘Heated Appliances’ and hope to join the ‘Materials in Contact with Food’ group soon”.
