The BHETA team has made a strong start in their Lockdown Challenge in support of The Rainy Day Trust, completing 120 miles in their first week. The team aims to collectively walk 509 miles during lockdown, that being the distance between BHETA’s most northerly member, housewares manufacturer, Aydya based in Dundee and the most southerly, heating and plumbing supplier, Select Products based in Torbay.
Each member of the BHETA team will individually complete as many miles as they can during the next two months and record the distances achieved until the combined target of 509 is reached.
“The lockdown challenge has started really well, inspiring us to get up off our sofa’s and venture out on some dark, wet nights this week,” explained marketing services manager Nicola Adams. She continued, “we’ve enjoyed ‘waving’ to the members we’ve passed on the ‘virtual’ way, including our friends at Craig and Rose Limited, Premier Housewares Ltd, Ladderlimb, Cleva Europe Ltd, Tor Coatings – Rust Oleum Europe and Nilfisk Ltd.
“The Rainy Day Trust is the only charity which exists solely to help people who work or have worked in the UK’s home improvement and enhancement industry, so it’s a great cause for BHETA to support. We are all hoping that the BHETA membership will sponsor the team, so we can raise funds which are much needed in these difficult times.”
The BHETA 500 Mile Walk team comprises Nicola Adams, Helen Farnell and Zara Miah from BHETA member services, marketing manager, Steve Richardson, Chief Operating Officer, Will Jones, Executive Chairman, Andrew Weiss, Seema Grantham, housewares sector manager, Keeley Vernon, DIY sector manager and Finance Director, Clare Holland.
