BHETA offer FREE credit forums for all members

In the current financial climate, many businesses need help managing their credit risk and bad debt when trading with retailers. BHETA have recognised this and are pleased to announce that all 2021 credit forums will be FREE to members (in previous years there was an additional cost of £350.00 per year).

Our “DIY & Garden” and “Housewares & Small Electrical” Credit Forums bring together industry experts and members to gain a shared understanding of the current market and customer challenges, with the objective of finding effective solutions.

The meetings are currently held over Zoom and hosted by Let’s Talk Credit.

Meetings are aimed at credit and/or finance professionals and MDs/Business Owners in a discussion-based format.

Typical Credit Forum agenda

Typically lasting under two hours they cover:

  • latest retail and trade sales update from BHETA
  • latest credit insurance picture from AON
  • insolvency law update from PwC
  • Experian’s data on how your customers pay other suppliers
  • Discussion of any retailer of concern raised by members:
o Concerns about customers paying within terms
o Experian’s data on average days late payment by retailer
o AON’s update on available credit insurance
  • Member discussion on managing risk, and what to do differently in the evolving landscape

Member Feedback

The BHETA Credit Forum was extremely informative and helpful to discuss issues around supplier payments. As a business that is continuing to grow, the relaxed atmosphere and openness of discussion is very valuable.” Creative Products Ltd

This was my first one and I found it useful and informative, especially because people spoke about actual experiences with big retailers.Rustins

It was once again very insightful and helps us understand the big picture of what is happening in real time in the marketplace.GPlants

I would recommend to anyone involved in credit management in the DIY sector to join the forum and build on the knowledge sharing platform that has been built. The information we can share is invaluable in these challenging times.” Stanley Black & Decker

A really useful and insightful meeting. I felt it helped me keep in touch with what others were experiencing and what is going on in the marketplace in general. QEP

BHETA’s Chief Operating Officer, Will Jones added, “In the current crisis, businesses need to try and work together more than ever. Our credit forums have been very popular with the members who have attended, proving a supportive and helpful environment to share concerns and best practice. The video meeting format has been very popular. Even in better times, it can be hard to justify a half or full day meeting out of the office, but this format offered a practical way to share information that members described as “really useful, especially as the delegates were all trading with similar retailers.”
