BHETA Electrical membership

In 2021, BHETA introduced a new membership group, “BHETA Electrical”, which focuses on everything to do with the complex technical and logistical issues around marketing electrical products, from small electrical accessories through to DIY.

The original core membership of this group are ten companies who collectively joined BHETA when the Small Electrical Marketing Association (SEAMA) disbanded in 2020.

Any supplier, manufacturer or importer can join as a ‘BHETA Electrical’ member, including:

• small electrical appliances

• tools (incl. cordless)

• electrical and security lighting

• batteries

Membership features:

1. Your technical manager, or a senior manager, can join the EOSC

2. Access to selected BSI standards committees through the EOSC

3. Exclusive invites to Electrical networking events

4. Access to, and representation by, the Small Electrical Appliances committee, Home Improvement/DIY Committee or Housewares Committee (as relevant)  

5. Through the EOSC, have direct links with, and receive the latest information from:

• BSI British Standards Institute – The UK’s national standards body and a leading global standards maker

• JTA Joint Trading Association – The UK organisation that brings together trade associations to lobby

• BEIS Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy – This UK Government department makes business policy

• OPSS Office for Product Safety and Standards – This UK Government department’s purpose is to make regulation work

• ICER The Industry Council for Electronic Equipment Recycling – Represents the Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment sector

Benefits of “BHETA Electrical” membership:

• The EOSC Committee provides first-hand experience for a team member to discuss industry technical issues.

• Be able to raise and lobby technical queries through the EOSC straight into technical and Government organisations

• Your technical team can network with like-minded individuals, to share problems and solutions

• Be able to discuss joint lobby response to Government consultations

• The EOSC members on BSI Committees can influence, and find out updates on standards, up to two years ahead of consultations

• As a member of the ICER, the EOSC  provides members access to a forum for industry to work together with government and regulators on WEEE policy and implementation

• Access other ICER members, including producers of electronic and electrical equipment, compliance schemes, waste management companies, treatment facilities and recyclers

• Through the Small Electrical Appliances committee, Home Improvement/DIY Committee or Housewares Committee (as relevant), access a forum for members for the exchange of ideas and information concerning the marketing of your products.

• Increase buyer’s and consumer’s knowledge on the industry
